Meet the St. Johns Team

Born in the small town of Roanoke Alabama in 1953, Dr. Adams grew up in Oxford Alabama. He graduated from Jacksonville State University with a BS in chemistry and biology. After graduation, he worked for a pipeline company in Louisiana and attended LSU. He moved to Birmingham Alabama in 1977 where he met his future wife while attending the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.

Dr. Adams practiced dentistry in Decatur Alabama until 1986, when he attended the UAB School of Medicine, graduating in 1988. That was also the year he married. He and his wife both completed residency in Family Practice in Huntsville and practiced together for a number of years. They had two sons, one graduating from West Point, the other became a doctor of physical therapy.

Doctor Adams worked for The Center for Cancer Care for 13 years was the first Medical Director of Palliative Care at Huntsville Hospital and was the first doctor to work in the Observation Unit in the ER. In 2012, his wife was killed in a tragic car accident and his career took another turn.

In 2013, Dr. Adams began studying at the Academy of Anti-aging Medicine and one with The South Florida Bone Marrow and Transplant Institute. His passion for providing cutting edge solutions for his patients is stronger than ever.

Dr Adams is participating in studies that look at the effects of extracellular vesicles on neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease as well as autism. He lives in Huntsville with his wife and a house full of dogs.

Dr. Sean McHugh has been an advanced holistic chiropractor in Jacksonville, FL for the past 9 years. He is the sole practitioner at McHugh Chiropractic and Healthcare where the focus is to bring about balance of the physical, mental and emotional aspects of patients.

Dr. McHugh has extensive training in Advanced Orthogonal Chiropractic and has an Elite Master certification in Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.). He is passionate about restoring the human body’s inborn ability to heal and excel in all aspects of life; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. He was a student athlete at Jacksonville University where he played division I baseball and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2005. In 2011, Dr. McHugh graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida earning a Doctorate of Chiropractic.

Dr. McHugh’s extensive training includes chiropractic techniques such as manual adjusting, activator technique, sacro-occipital therapy and flexion distraction.
